Choosing the correct size bike...

First of all you must check the frame size of the bike you wish to purchase. Adult bikes are normally measured from the top of the seat tube, where the seat post fits into the frame, down to the centre of the bottom bracket axle, which carries the pedal cranks.

With the correct size frame you should be able to sit on the saddle with your feet on tip-toes touching the ground on either side of the bike. You also must be able to reach the handlebars comfortably. Occasionally it might be worth considering a smaller size frame with a slightly raised saddle for a more comfortable reach.

The adult and children sizes below will give you a guide of frame size against inside leg measurement so that you choose the correct bike that fits you. The correct way to measure your inside leg is from your crotch down to the floor making sure your feet are flat on the ground.
